Water and the Environment

Answer

Regardless of your views on climate change—protecting our environment and using resources wisely is essential for a growing city like Lethbridge.

That’s why I will continue to work with provincial and federal partners to secure grants and programs that help us grow sustainably and improve our quality of life.

Lethbridge has long been recognized for the quality of its water, and that standard must continue. Every glass we drink, every shower we take, and every crop that gets irrigated depends on a complex system of pipes, treatment plants, and skilled professionals. Clean water isn’t a luxury—it’s a basic need.

Wastewater infrastructure is just as important. It protects our rivers, lakes, and ecosystems by managing and treating wastewater in a way that protects our environment. This safeguards public health, prevents pollution, and preserves the natural beauty of our region—for today and for generations to come.

As Lethbridge grows and our infrastructure ages, we must invest in upgrading and maintaining these systems. This includes not just pipes and pumps, but also the skilled teams who keep everything running.

By prioritizing water and environmental infrastructure, we support public health, sustainability, and long-term economic growth.
